Best Purple Shampoo for Transitioning to Gray

Transitioning to gray and on a quest to find a purple shampoo that works...gentle on hair, removes the brassiness...this is it! I love how my grays look after washing. I put this on my dry hair, before shampooing, for about 5 min. Then wash my hair, adding a bit more shampoo, wait 3 min, rinse and use a rinse out conditioner. Air dry and my hair looks and feels great!

Luxurious Purple Shampoo

I couldn't believe how luxurious this purple shampoo is! Most purple shampoo's are very drying and I have to use a ton of conditioner afterwards. Not with Shu Uemura - hair felt so silky afterwards. It also cut the brassiness. So happy to have found this shampoo. I will definitely use again.

First impressions

You definitely need to wear gloves to apply this product. I didnt have any and tried to be quick about applying it, but my hands were immediately fxcked by the chemicals. So, imagine what applying this to your hair is going to do. I have used this twice with the matching conditioner and both times my hair was a static mess. I tried different products (lotion, then oil) to lock moisture in the first time since I expected dryness from a purple shampoo and this was the day I experienced the most static. Recently I tried it again and did not use products. My hair has less static, but there is still some and that isn't a great sign. For reference, I am a warm toned brunette whose virgin hair has been balyaged twice. I live in a colder climate US state. Maybe this product will create less dryness during the summer? As for toning, I think it has helped with brassiness. Nothing too substantial to note here. I am disappointed, but I'll continue to test the product. Based on this experience I wonder if the yubi hair mask would be a better and more affordable option. It doesnt make sense to try to deposite purple pigment while cleansing your hair and it seems like a waste to have a shampoo you can only use once a week. So maybe get a hydrating shampoo and try the Yubi mask instead?

Great tone, but drying

Great for brassy hair

Drying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave 3 stars, mainly for the lather and function of this purple shampoo, but I think there are better options out there. This shampoo felt very stripping on my hair, leaving my hair feeling instantly dry after rinsing. Also, the fragrance is extremely strong. I'm not usually one to be sensitive to scents, but even my nose crinkled up at this. The conditioner in this set was not as bothersome. I'll always be a fan of Shu Uemura, but this was a miss for me.

Perfectly Purple

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the opportunity to review the just released Shu Uemura's Yubi Blonde shampoo and conditioner. These products go on, you guessed it, purple but rinses out clear. The pigment works to neutralize those brassy shades with its magical, opposite-end-of-the-color-wheel powers. It's great for cutting the brassiness in blond hair and neutralizes yellows or gold to make blond shades appear brighter. After using about 10 different purple shampoos and conditioners this one is by far the best. It removes brass in ONE wash. The shampoo lathers extremely well, smells great, and does not completely dry out your hair. The conditioner is amazing too- it hydrates and leaves your hair bright and shiny. Shu Uemura Yubi Blonde line is definitely a blonde girls BFF. Give it a try!

I think that it is better than other purple shampoo's that I have tried. The only downside is that it did leave my hair feeling dry after I rinsed it, but this was fixed by the conditioner. Not sure how to feel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shampoo has both negative and positive aspects to it. On the plus side this shampoo doesn't weigh down my wavy hair. In fact it helps my hair keep it's wavy texture. Better than other shampoos. On the other hand it doesn't really do much for the brass in my dyed hair. I have had other shampoos do a better job reduce the brass in my hair but dry my hair out completely. My hair was completely virgin before hand. My natural hair is dark brown almost black. So I'm not sure if this would work better on lighter hair. It has a light fragrance that isn't overpower. My hair is left feeling soft and manageable. My scalp feels fresh and clean. This is one of those products that I would be hesitant to recommend since the pros outweigh the cons. Then again, this is suppose to be a purple shampoo, that is suppose to reduce the brassiness in your hair. I received this product in exchange for my honest review.

Perfect!

The shampoo lathers perfectly, perfectly cleanses the hair and scalp. Smells amazing, like an expensive luxury perfume. My hair smelled amazing until the next shampoo. I have a sensitive scalp with oily roots. The shampoo did not irritate the scalp. I also noticed that my hair was clean longer than with other shampoos. Hair is smooth, shiny, soft. The best for brassy hair!

Best I've EVER tried

Toned my orange significantly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Purple Shampoo was a bit drying for my taste. It did however tone my hair significantly with one use. A little goes a long way. Compared to other purple shampoos, I didn't have to use much product. It lathered really well for my really long hair (down to my waist), it washed it really well too. My hair felt clean. But like i mentioned it did dry my hair out. I had to use other leave in products to rehydrate it and make it soft again. I don't know if I would repurchase or recommend. The sample size I received was not enough to determine if I will.

Saved My Hair

My hair was noticeably off color and oh so frizzy from the hair dye. I was embarrassed. But definitely could tell the difference after 1 application! Seriously! crazy about the scent!

Soooo good

I felt like my hair was still moisturized and strong as I would use my argon oil shampoo. My only little thing was that I believe the shampoo should be left a little longer than 3 mins as suggested on the sample I received, because although some of the brass was removed I think more would have been removed if I left it longer than suggested. All in all, I think it's a great product to try if you have blonde color treated hair. And my natural hair is verryyy dark so the Brass gets real in my hair and this did a great job at it

No More Brassiness!

Shu Uemura Yubi Blonde Anti-Brass Purple Shampoo smells so amazing. It has this light floral peony scent that is not overwhelming to your senses. It is a bright purple color like with most purple shampoos. It isn't too thick or thin. It's just the right consistency to get my hair clean and fresh. It lathers up better than I expected as well. The best part about this product is that it actually works. It neutralized my stubborn brassiness within the 2 minutes that I kept it on my hair. I have shoulder length hair and used 1 sample packet that I received free. I was definitely impressed when the shampoo did not leave a stain effect on my hands or a lavender tint to my hair. My hair was left feeling soft, silky, weightless after drying. The brassiness had disappeared. I definitely recommend Shu Uemura Yubi Blonde Anti-Brass Purple Shampoo to EVERY blonde.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My hair is bleached, but it been a while since I did touch up, so I decided to give a try to remove the brassiness. First of all it's super easy and effective. The shampoo is super concentrated and really does reduce brassiness. My roots look much better, no yellowish, cheap looking, rather well taken care, golden hair. The conditioner leaves the hair smooth and soft. I love how detangled it is. Overall I'd say this purple shampoo and conditioner is much better than what i'v tried before, the quality is amazing and really life saving.

A new favorite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this new purple shampoo from Shu Uemura Yubi. I have balayaged hair and I don't feel like it dried my hair out as much as the other purple shampoo I've been using.

Best shampoo

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just love this shampoo. Unfortunately I had patches of unwanted brassy spots in my blonde hair and it lighten up ALL the brassy spots and turned out a beautiful blonde color. Since I've use this shampoo I got so many compliments. I would recommend this product to everyone

Amazing

I have had some pretty intense purple shampoos and always get a little worried about how my hair will feel after. I have had some that make my hair feel SUPER dry and others that make it feel like it didnt even clean my hair. This made my hair soft, smell fine, and actually look really nice.

Nourished, Toned and 100% removed brass!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great product! I have a heavy balyaged and highlighted hair. I loved using this product. It was very nourishing and it 100% surpassed all of its claims. I let my conditioner sit for a while, like 20 minutes. It has definitely removed the slight bits of orangey brass that has come back from the toner dissipating since my hair service. Amazing product. Amazing scent. I would definitely re purchase!!

Very nice product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this purple shampoo and I loved it! The smell is fantastic, the texture of my hair after being washed was awesome, very soft and smooth, however, it gave a nice tone to my highlighted hair, but it wasn't as bright as I was expecting. I applied it for only 3 minutes, as they explain in the mode of use, maybe if I would leave it for a longer time I would have experienced a better result, but as it contains so many chemicals I was scared it would damage my hair. However, I will buy it and I recommend it to my friends, it is one of the best purple shampoos I have tried. I received this product as a free sample.

Love it!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so impressed with Shu Uemura Yubi Blond Anti-Brass Purple Shampoo. My hair has been color-treated to be a cool ash blond but it never stays that way for long. This shampoo has restored it to the way it looked fresh from the salon. A lot of other purple shampoos make my hair dry but this shampoo left my hair soft and more manageable. I will definitely repurchase this product and recommend it to anyone with light blond hair.

Shu Uemura Shampoo & Conditioner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this product and the concept behind but one thing I found a little off was that both products have a fragrance. Personally I try to find beauty products without fragrances but other besides that, it's an awesome product which does what it says!
