Strong male cologne smell

I cannot get past the overpowering man cologne smell (not scent!). The product seems fine on fine/medium color treated hair but Wow—the smell strong doesn’t fade.

Spray me Soft

My hair is very coarse and wavy. I was tired of putting a lot of junk in it that only made it sticky and hard. After I shower I spray my hair with this before I put my styling products. It has a lovely fragrance and makes my hair easy to comb and soft. Is a go to to prep my hair.

Not for my hair

Rice is Nice!

Unique Treatment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pleasantly surprised with this spray - I didn't know exactly what a rice water treatment was or how it might actually do in my hair. For context, I have long, fine, color-treated hair and I typically use Kerastase products (I use Olaplex for strengthening. I used this daily for a couple of weeks on the length of my hair while damp (not the roots, they tend to get oily when I put any product on the root). Pros: This made my hair SOFT. Like, really soft. I loved running my hands through it during the day. I'm not sure if my hair felt "strengthened" over the couple of weeks I've been using it but it does feel healthier. Cons: The fragrance is heavy and not pleasant smelling, although it does fade pretty quickly after application. This made my ends feel crunchy so I had to add in some smoothing cream - I didn't love that I had to add in an extra step. I wasn't really sure how much of the product to use - I had to check out the Shu website to check on how to apply; I ended up using 4-5 sprays in my hair each day (not sure if that was too much, not enough, or just right). I'll continue to use this treatment until my bottle is finished although I'm not sure if I'll pick up another bottle - this is pricey and I'm not sure if it stacks up to the stuff I use in my current routine. Still really happy I tried it - I would recommend trying the mini bottle out first to see how you like it before committing to the full-size bottle.

Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product and I'm not usually a fan of products you leave in your hair since my hair is fine. At first the smell was a turn off, it's a powdery 'old' scent, but I have come to enjoy it and it fades quickly anyway. This spray is easy to use, makes my hair incredibly soft and it does actually feel stronger. I love using this every time I wash my hair. I feel like my fine hair feels so much healthier and shinier than before. I will probably purchase this when I run out. A little goes a long way, as well!

Real treatment for hair

No instant results, maybe long term?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will try and update this review after using the entire bottle, but in just a few weeks it was hard to know whether this product made much of a difference in the overall strength and health of my hair. The product is very lightweight and definitely didn't weigh my hair down, even when using it with my other, regular products. But, unlike most products, during and after blow drying, my hair didn't seem any softer, or more manageable. It claims to help strengthen hair, which would take time. For what this would retail for, I'm not sure I would buy it again.

A new staple in my routine

Smells to good!!!

Hello silky soft hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hello silky soft hair , where have you been all my life? I recently received the Shu Uemura art of hair Izumi Tonic Hair Treatment. I followed the directions and applied it on damp hair In sections. I don't like to blow dry my hair too often because it is very damaged from coloring and bleaching . The Shu Uemura art of hair Izumi Tonic Hair Treatment has made a tremendous difference in my hair. It's stronger so much less breakage and feels very smooth and silky. I've tried other treatments in the past and nothing comes close to this. I have already recommended this to friends and I will definitely be purchasing more.

New Favorite Hair Care Product

I was Shocked with the results

Strengthening, not heavy

BEST PRODUCT EVER

After just one use I was able to see a huge difference in my hair. I have naturally thin and dry hair & this product has completely changed that. Fine hair finally has some texture!

I experience hair breakage all the time, and haven't found something that actually works without weighing my hair down. I've heard about the rice water treatments people are doing, but I'm so low maintenance that the thought of doing all those steps wasn't worth it. Enter this spray! It gave my hair some texture so that I could actually do something with it, and it seems to have strengthened my hair a bit. I feel like the more I use it, the better my hair will be. I just wish they put the recommended amount to use on the bottle. I put too much in once and my hair felt gross.

Makes my hair not need hot tools as much

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this every time I wash my hair for the last couple weeks and while I haven't used it for the full 28-day period they recommend, I have noticed a positive change in my hair after drying when using this product. Usually, I blow-dry my hair straight and then use a straightener because without the straightener, it gets a bit frizzy (especially in the southern US humidity). With this hair treatment, I really don't need the hot tools because my hair is a lot less frizzy and more manageable. I am looking forward to using this for the full 28 days to see if I get even better results but overall I would recommend it. I actually felt that it left a build up feeling in my clean hair after drying that almost felt like I didn't get all of the soap out. It was not a pleasant experience to deal with. Wanted to love it but couldn't

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to love this new product by Shu Uemura, but I was totally disappointed. I liked the scent, but it was definitely a slap in the face with how strong it is, so this is *not* for anyone with fragrance sensitivities. I have tried using the product a few ways to see what worked best, and the highest praise was really using it as a detangler. Unfortunately it did not help me with frizz in the mid-south, but did serve as a mild hydrating/conditioning treatment post-shower. My best results were lightly towel drying, spritzing this on my wet locks, then lightly scrunching for a natural wavy look. It was great to try, but ultimately wouldn't be a repurchase, especially when similar products are a fourth of the cost.

LOVE the scent & so hydrating for dry hair

I used this for two weeks straight, spraying on wet hair, combing through and then either air drying or blowing drying. My hair feels hydrated, light and not weighed down. Quick to dry, even misting on dry hair for a light sheen of moisture! It's pricey, but 5 oz will last a long time, just a few spritzes at a time. Would recommend to friends, especially if they are looking for hair hydration.

It does not way the hair down or make it look greasy. Sometimes products make your hair look worse and this does not at all. I would recommend this to everyone.

Amazing Frizzy Hair Product

Smoothing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First the smell is amazing for this Tonic Hair Treatment! I noticed it worked noticably better when I used it with a hair dryer instead of letting it air dry. Super smoothing with less frizz and oh so shiny! I gave it a four star only because it says you can air dry as opposed to blow drying and I was still expecting the same results. However, I only noticed it was a bit more shiny when air dried but still had some frizz and not as smooth. But it's absolutely amazing using the blow dryer.

Wonderful product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only use a few hair products as my hair is naturally straight and I air try it. But it does frizzes sometimes, which can be quite annoying. This toner visibly improves the look of my hair! It looks like I actually dried it and styled it, it feels soft and looks very shiny. I would definitely recommend to friends and will buy it again when I run out of this bottle.

Helped postpartum hair breakage

Miracle worker.
