Great for a root booster and volume

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is great! It took me a couple of tries before perfecting, but I found that blowing out my hair after applying this to my roots. and using Velcro hair rollers after, my hair is bouncy and full of volume! It also smells great!

Greaseball

Good product

I don’t know if it has done much to protect my color-treated hair (I need to continue to use it to see), but it offers a nice amount of styling hold without leaving my hair feeling dry. Good Hair Styling Tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is very nice for creating texture. It’s not at all sticky like some other texture products. You just need a little bit on your fingertips and then scrunch into your hair. I love the piecey look. However, I am disappointed that Pureology doesn’t have a styling cream, which I do prefer for my hair type.

Not for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has the texture of an ointment. My hair is curly, so it’s is naturally dry, when I added the product it felt harsh, I couldn’t even play with the hair to style it. I had no option but to wash it off. Maybe it will work for hair that is extremely straight, you know, the ones that can’t keep a hair tie or the curls from a babyliss. It removes all the softness from the hair. I’m not saying it is a terrible product just that it definitely wasn’t made for my type of hair.

It's ok...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not my favorite texture paste. Easy to put in my hair. No white streaks, does keep things soft and not "crunchy"... smell could be better. Could last a bit longer too. Didn't need with my color as far as I could tell, but honestly I'd probably have to use it every day for an accurate commentary. All in all, it's average. Recommend if it's a quick outing.

Good Product

I felt like it drys the hair out but my hair needed more moisture. I do have color treated hair which in my case requires more moisture. Overall I think it's a good product but not for my hair type.

Excellent Stuff

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't detect a scent to this product. Their other products are lightly scented so Im not sure if this one isn't scented or if I just can't smell it. I really like this paste and Ive used a variety of pastes. This one has flexibility while still maintaining control, no flaking, manageability and gives beautiful shine. It says to use on dry hair but I also tried it on damp and it seemed to work really well. It held my style all day long and it still looked fresh into the evening. If you're looking for a new holding product, I recommend this one.

Decent paste

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The directions said to use this product on dry hair, but I don't blow dry my hair so I used it on wet hair. It has a nice scent to it and lets you style your hair without it getting sticky which can happen with some pastes. I also like that it is good to use with colored hair which hopefully means it will not dry my hair out.

Not for curly hair… at all

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the way this product feels in my hands. That’s the only positive. I have thin, 3c, low porosity hair and this is way too heavy for my curls to bounce back. It weighs down my curls leaving some parts straight. It’s also overly drying. The first time I used it my hair, I started with weeks of the perfect moisture/protein balance and as soon as I put it in my hair it felt like straw. It felt like the product immediately pulled out the moisture in my hair. The second time I used it, I made sure to start with a leave in conditioner. It felt less like hay when I applied it on wet hair. This product also does nothing to prevent frizz (how could it with its drying effect). I could have used an anti-frizz product, but that wouldn’t have supported a fair review of this product but of a cocktail, which this review is not about. My hair is not shiny, soft, mediumly held. There’s no way for me to judge the heat or color protection. Because of the drying/hay effect, I’d never use this before flat ironing for fear of damage. Color protection couldn’t be judged from just a month of use. I absolutely would not recommend this product for people with hair like mine, nor would I recommend it for people who are trying to maintain moisture in curly hair (which is required for curly hair health).

My son loved

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s just as sticky as any other texture paste you could think of. Has fantastic hold to force my floofy hair into definition when I curl it. My main critique (and why I don’t use it terribly often) is the effects look best on the day of use. Second or third day hair was out of the question for my hair. Maybe if I had heavier hair it would’ve held up better? By second day, the definition was no longer there and instead my strands appeared matted, dirty and webby, not softly tousled.

Good but sticky

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This texture paste is good to use on the mid to ends of hair if curling. I believe it gave my curls an extra hold in addition to hairspray. I used this with the lock it down hairspray and it held my curls well all day and I had wavy hair up to day 5! If you are not curling your hair I wouldn't recommend using this product on the ends of your hair because it gives it a sticky/crinkled feel (maybe because the bottom half of my hair might be dryer?). This does work well on fly aways on the top half of my hair for up dos or wearing downwithout it feeling sticky or crinkled. I definitely wash my hands after applying because my hands are sticky after using. I would recommend this product and purchase it for the use as described above. I am giving it 4 stars because of the sticky/crinkly feel it gives when used only on the lower half of my hair.

Not so good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a good product maybe not for me, I don't like to use something that causes heaviness to my hair and I feel that this paste is not as light as it claims to be, or maybe that on oily scalp it is not of great help but being vegan and free of animal cruelty is reason to keep it in mind and apart from being for processed hair, I loved shampoo, all these products have a light aroma that the truth is very pleasant

Good for short hair, not so much long

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t have much use for pastes since I have very long, straight, fine hair. However, the paste worked well with my six y/o son’s “boy hair” that likes to grow in all directions and is just a bit more coarse. I was able to style his hair without it getting that “sticky” feel you do with some pastes. I found it to be a medium hold. It couldn’t necessarily keep up until the night with a little boy’s running and playing all day, but I can see this working well for someone with shorter hair wanting a medium-hold, natural looking hairstyle.

Sticky

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You're supposed to use this product when your hair is dry. I waited for my hair to air dry to use it. The moment I put it on my hair it became really difficult to apply it evenly and give my hair texture. I was left with an uneven product and my hair felt really sticky which I disliked very much. The paste smells really good and is not a thick hard consistency, it's easy to work with when is in your hands. I had to wash my hair again right away after I applied it. I have lots of thick semi curly hair so I don't know if maybe that's the reason why it didn't work for me. It may work on someone else. No flexible control as it claims Did not notice any shine nor it was soft to the touch.

Perfect for Day 2 Waves

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never used a product like this so I was hesitant to give it a try. It smells amazing, a little goes a long way, and I really liked the texture it added to my curls and waves. It was especially good for day 2 when things start to go a little flat. This product helped give it more “oomph” and added some life back in. It smooths out a lot when you warm it in your hands and makes it easy to work with. I did notice a few pieces that gathered a clump of product more than I would have liked, but I honestly think that could be user error since I hadn’t used a paste like this before. I will continue to use this product.

Smooth & Easy to Work With

It is not waxy or greasy, and doesn’t cause some of the separation in strands and sections that other pastes might. It melts in your hands so you can apply it in a thin even layer almost like a serum, or use more product for creating definition in styling.

Not the right product for my hair type

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product smells really good, but it wasn’t the right product for my hair type. I have locs which are susceptible to product buildup. I used just a dab to re-twist a few of my locs at the root. It did not hold very well. But I didn’t use much because product build-up isca pain. While I enjoyed the smell, I would not recommend this product for anyone with locs.

Hmm…pros and cons

not a fan of the scent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The scent is almost floral like but it isn’t strong. I don’t care for it. The product itself is nice and has a light hold. It isn’t difficult to get out of the tub. Some other pasta are gooey or clumpy but this is almost like a cream paste. It’s 100% vegan which is amazing and the hold is nice. I would recommend this product

texture paste

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Soooooo I didn't use this the way it was intended to be used. I actually used it to tame flyaways and smooth my ponytails too. It works great for that. I did try to use it for it's intended purpose however I feel like my hair is too long and therefore didn't look that great when messy. Probably user error but for smoothing my hair it worked wonders. The scent smells like a salon and for some strange reason I really enjoyed that. I would definitely recommend this to my friends with short hair.

Works really well on wet hair!

It gave me kind of a wild, beachy wave look that I love! And my hair was still soft after, which was so nice.

everything is better wet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I’ve never used a wax and at first I was using way too much and on dry hair, so it was sticky. And over time I realized that it’s better used on my hair wet and maybe (for my short curly hair) a quarter sized amount. I like it and will probably keep using it. It keeps my hair curly for longer throughout the week even though I wear scrub caps everyday.

Good for texture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product when doing an updo and it had good hold. It wasn’t sticky, or greasy. It has a light fragrance. It gives a little grip to keep hairstyle in place for the majority of the time. I also used it for my edges and baby hair. It did well for holding them in place. It lasted a few hours. It is soft and manageable. Doesn’t get hard or crunchy. It gives hair a shine. I wouldn’t use this on fine long hair though. I liked the texture it gave for a braid. It will give a little volume for a messy bun also. This is best for men or women with short haircuts. Or if you have natural curls or waves. I would recommend. It’s even better if you have colored short hair.

Might be perfect for some

It works well to hold back fly aways and would be great to keeping an updo looking sleek and smooth. It says to apply to dry hair which I wasn’t crazy about how it left my hair feeling. Again, for some it might be great but for the way I wear my hair day to day it wasn’t for me.

soft texture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product on my son’s super thick hair after I blow dried it back into a style. It’s got a soft hold and wouldn’t have held up without the blow dry part of styling. However, he loved that it wasn’t sticky or yucky feeling in his hair. Pureology is an amazing line, so I love everything they put out there. For my long hair, I’m not sure how I could use this but it’s perfect for a short do that needs some hold and texture.

Great texture paste, not too heavy, crunchy or gre

I love that it’s color fade resistant, as I color my hair regularly and like to keep the color as fresh as I can, as long as I can. It’s not too heavy of a paste nor does it leave your hair crunchy hard or greasy, it’s just right! It doesn’t leave a heavy buildup on your hair either. I use it to piece my bangs to give a separated and/or choppy/textured look, it also works great for flyaways. It smells great of course! I also love the fact that it has 100% vegan ingredients! I gave it 4 stars for the price, as it’s a little spendy and I’d like to see most be able to afford it, because it’s a great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So im definitely not a big hair paste user but i had heard this can help bring some weigh to the ends of your hair when you’re on day 2+ so i have it a go and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to manage and that i didn’t need a lot of the product to do what i needed.

I like it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually shared this product with my husband and he really likes it. It’s a thinner consistency than other pomades, which he prefers. It has nice hold without crunchiness and doesn’t make his hair oily.

works well at keeping fine hair in place

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this on my son's hair and it really helped to keep his fine hair from moving around. He has bed head almost every morning and this definitely tamed that and kept everything in place even throughout the school day and recess. A little does go a long way though and can make things look greasy. My husband used this as well on his beard, he liked it but he prefers more "masculine" scents so he doesn't usually reach for this since the smell is light and has a slightly more feminine scent to it.

A Little Skeptical At First

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first used this product, I was a little skeptical because it had the word paste so I automatically thought that this product would harden my hair. I followed the directions of using just a little bit of product, and it held down my little flyaways after straightening my hair. I am excited to try the Mess It Up Paste with a more natural hair style. This product is a little out of my typical hair care budget, but I would definitely consider buying this and using it on a regular basis.

Texture paste

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t know how to feel about this product honestly! Maybe I just have to use it more, but I didn’t feel like it did much for my hair. It maybe added a little bit of volume, but not enough to the point where I would go out of my way, and repurchase this.

Wonderful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It has a wonderfully light scent and it's great for the hair. I love how shinny and soft it made my hair feel after I had styled it, yet still holding it in . Very easy to use and fast as well . The best part is that it helps product my colored treated hair . A lot of styling products that I have used before have stripped off the hair color . This doesn’t and is honestly worth it . Natural based ingredients and vegan clean products are way better and healthier for your hair . Definitely recommend this brand .

Does what it says!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t use texture paste much, I tend to prefer the dry texture sprays. But this smells nice and adds decent texture, it helped my curls stay a little longer than they usually do. If texture paste or pomade is something you like to use, then I think this would be worth it.

My new-go-to hair product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my favorite in the set that I got! It’s easy to apply, the scent is very light, and it works with my hair texture. The key is to apply it when the hair is damp and just put a small amount. My hair felt soft and smooth after using this! If you have oily scalp like I do, go easy on it though! Make sure that you don’t mix it with other oil based hair products! I think this will be better for dry hair.

Pureology texture paste

Not What I Was Expecting

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I tried the Purology Style + Protect Mess It Up Texture Paste, I was disappointed in the results. My hair is ombre, medium brown base with blonde ends. It is longer than shoulder length. I put a small amount of the texture paste in my hands, rubbed them together, and worked it through the ends of my hair, attempting to create a more defined edge. The product was stiffer than I expected, and not just shiny but seemed almost greasy in a way. It made my hair look clumpy and really bad. the results were so negative, I couldn't bring myself to take a photo of it so the included picture is just the product itself. Maybe this would work better for someone with shorter hair, but I don't plan on cutting mine any time soon.

Smooth hold

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t typically use this type of product in my hair. My hair is about shoulder length, but has a lot of flyaways from bleach and overall damage, especially in the front. So, I used this product to hold down the flyaways and try to keep my hair looking healthier and smooth. It did the job well for that, but I’m not sure how it would work to mold and shape shorter hair. There is a noticeable lack of fragrance, which is nice because it does not interfere with other hair products.

great hold

Nice subtle smell

maybe I’m doing it wrong

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m not gonna lie this is the very first texture past I’ve used so maybe I’m not doing it right but I’ve been trying ti use it like gel when I put my hair up to hold my baby hairs and it just don’t work for me, it dries white and with dark hair it’s so noticeable.

Worked well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first time I've ever used a texture paste. It seemed to work well! it definitely added texture and held my hair better. If I could change one thing about it, I would add a spatula of some sort to make getting the paste out easier. It's sort of difficult with long nails to avoid getting the product under your nails.
