Not great fit for me
I previously used Shushu Sleek until it was discontinued and loved it. They recommended Ashita and I haven’t liked it - it smells earthy/like bark and my hair feels weighted down and dried out instead of light and shiny. Also agree with other reviews it takes a lot to lather. My hair is not colored, is thin, and is frizzy/curly, and I live in the Bay Area so it’s pretty moist during the winter which is when I’m writing this review. I’ve contacted Shu Uemura to recommend another line for me.

Very good shampoo!
A very good shampoo... but not for me. My hair is very dry and I tried using this shampoo and it doesn't make my hair soft at all. I've been using Silk Bloom for a few years now and have been trying to find another from this brand (which I love) that works for my hair and alternate with Silk Bloom. It doesn't matter, my husband is very happy when a shampoo doesn't suit me... it's perfect for him.

Love the effect, hate the smell.
I’ve always used Shu Uemura hair products in the past. Was excited when this new line came out. Took a while to get used to the lack of lather but hair feels smooth after.
However, I hate and can’t get past the scent. It smells like musky masculine cologne. It’s way too strong. I feel like I am carrying around some men’s scent on me and it makes me very self conscious. I understand scent is a very personal thing but I just can’t get past it.
Please come out with a comparable product but with more feminine scent.

Better than expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very nervous when I first opened the shampoo. The smell reminded me of a menthol smell and wasn't quite like my usual fruity scents. The shampoo was also very thin and liquid. During my first use I didn't feel that it cleaned well because it didn't lather well. I repeated washing my hair and got a better lather. Once I rinsed, my hair felt different than usual since it wasn't as slippery. I followed with the condioner. I let my hair air dry. I was very surprised that my hair felt silky, clean. And much less frizz than usual. I still had the same amount of hairless as usual, but did have less with repeated uses.

This is a new product & a new product line for Shu Uemura, because in the past, they were previously only a skincare & makeup product line, so it was very interesting to receive this new product. Immediately upon opening the product, there is a very wonderful, luxurious, high end salon Hair Care fragrance to this product. It is very light, yet smells very luxurious & pleasing. Yet, it's still subtle & luxe, all at the same time. The shampoo & conditioner felt very luxurious to use in the shower, while also smelling amazing. It was like an at home high end salon experience in the comfort of your own home & shower. I would recommend this shampoo & conditioner hair care proxy to a friend, & I will look out for the full size versions at a retailer near me.

Almost all good things

Nice, but it takes a lot to clean all my hair
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For as gentle as it is, it cleans very well. It rinsed super clean and my hair felt soft before I even applied conditioner. The one con for me was that it took a lot (like half of the deluxe-sized sample bottle I received) to wash all of my hair (it's about 3 inches past my shoulder). That would make this cost-prohibitive for me to use regularly.

Silky smooth

Really Great Shampoo!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shu Uemura Ashita Shampoo is a clear gel that gives a smooth milky lather. It cleansed my hair quickly and rinsed well. The fragrance is better for men than ladies. When air-dried, the shampoo and conditioner gave my hair volume - but not shine or smoothness. They made it wavy without giving it static cling. When blow-dried, they made my hair just as smooth as any other luxury line I've used.

Lathers up nicely with a little less than quarter size amount. I love the smell and ingredients!! Hadn't tried brand previously and so glad I did, because I definitely plan to purchase this or another Shu Uemura line after trying for the past 2 weeks (which is how long the travel size shampoo lasted). Truly luxurious shampoo

This stuff smells good!

They lather nicely also. My hair felt nice after rinsing but after my usual hair drying with a blow dryer, I was still left with a lot of my normal frizz. I really didn't see any difference between these products and the normal cheaper shampoo and conditioner I usually buy.

Perfect balance of cleansing, smoothness and volum

Great Shampoo
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the shampoo for the first time and first of it lathers well, and the smell is pleasant but not overpowering. I thought at first it was just a regular shampoo but once my hair dried I noticed that my hair was extremely shiny and soft. Just a little background, I have dry colored, long hair. This shampoo works and I only used it once. I'm sure after several washings, my hair will become better. I suggest to give it at try!

Smells Good

Soft and clean

Amazing!

Leaves hair soft

Beautiful shampoo for damaged hair

I wish I would have gotten a full bottle!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got sample sizes of this in exchange for an honest review which I was really skeptical about at first because I expect a lot when I am spending a lot. I am a huge Shu Uemura fan and always load up when I go to Tokyo but as we know I can't do that at the time. So little is needed for each wash that even after 5 uses I still have lots left. I am very sensitive to smell and this is very pleasant- I can't make it out but it doesn't bother me or my mom who usually remarks on every smell! I found that my hair looked hunker and fresher for more days than usual. It have it more volume and since I have very thin hair this is super important to me. I also use in conjunction with the conditioner and I would definitely buy this again for myself along with wanting to try the mask! Such pretty bottle too for your shower it looks like a lovely sake bottle

I was worried that the shampoo would make my hair feel greasy or dirty looking, but that was not the case. I have medium thickness, shoulder length hair that has a bit of a wave to it. This shampoo did not make my hair frizzy, and I also think it helped me shed less. I normally finger comb my hair in the shower and I noticed that I was losing less hair. I think that I may switch to this shampoo instead of using what are used to use. The packaging is very elegant, it is a nearly translucent dark charcoal bottle with red type

Revitalizes and moisturizes

I really LOVE the scent, and how well it actually works to revitalize my damaged hair and scalp. I have a chemical perm, so my hair has a lot of breakage, and damage. I also love that the shampoo is a clear product. So many shampoos shave colors and dyes in them which isn't good for us. This is clear, and with minimal ingredients compared to others. I really love how well this shampoo cleanses my hair, and removes oily buildup that I typically deal with. It helps take my dull hair to a beautiful shine, and helps restore its strength. Having ashitaba plant extract in this shampoo is the key to how amazing this works. I am now switching my current shampoo product, to this amazing shu uemura Ashita Supreme Shampoo. I'm extremely grateful to have gotten to try this!

Earthy scent and silky smooth locks

I also noticed the ease of running a comb through my hair without any leave-in conditioner. I did feel like I had to use a lot of shampoo and conditioner on my thick hair to fully cleanse and condition. Overall, my hair looked great but I didn't notice a "wow" factor to justify the high cost.

I loved the consistency (it was not too watery - pet peeve of mine!). I shampoo twice each time I wash my hair, and the second shampoo was more sudsy than the first, which I appreciate. The shampoo left my hair feeling clean without being too clean, and I liked the the smell.
